| The Attitude of Selfishness within the Christian Community |
|
The Church is in a serious dilemma when it makes changes to its structure of service and how you should handle programs. As we, all know some will fight the change and make comments, “well, we have always done it this way,” as this way may be good or bad it makes no difference. Others will neither desire it nor oppose the change, and then there will be the individual who wants change and not care who this change may hurt in the process. What the Church Fellowship needs to learn is to compromise on issues that are of a non-biblical nature. Those individuals on either side of the fence who will be adamant on change of any kind may cause a problem for the unity and peace of the Fellowship. Thus individuals who are mature in Christ must seek a way that can benefit all the Fellowship to secure the unity and peace within the body so that what is displayed is true love to the world and for the world to see Christ and for the world to know that the Father sent Christ into the world to show His love for us, "I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me" John 17:23 (NASB95). I personally know of a Fellowship that changed its structure and some left, while others make comments like, “who cares if they leave” this is a sure sign of a Fellowship in grave danger of a serious problem for scripture teaches in, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others" Philippians 2:3-4 (NASB95). One of the most difficult things to accomplish is to think of others needs first my wife of 29 years suffered and died from breast cancer and the last six months were the most difficult as she was in constant need of assistants and I absolutely refused to hire anyone to care for her because no one could care for her like I could. This fly’s in the face to the popular belief in America of let someone else do it, which again shows the attitude that self is more significant above others. Crucified and dead is how we must keep this treacherous self-attitude and always commit to memory of the examples given to us by Christ Himself of His service to others. Our aspiration should always be for the care of others in the promoting of Unity and Peace in the body of Christ, yet instead we demonstrate the depths at which Satan has entered into the Church by the disunity and self-love, which the Church demonstrates towards those who may oppose or support change in the Fellowship structure and then we wonder why the world questions weather Christ is real as taught in scripture. "I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me" John 17:23 (NASB95). The Christian life is always on display or should be if people know that you are in fact a Christian, so the way we present our life to the world may be the only scripture the unbeliever will ever read so let’s hope the book is full of love and compassion; yet never compromising Scriptures, so all mankind will truly believe in Jesus Christ, "So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith" Galatians 6:10 (NASB95). Please dear brother and sister learn the full meaning of these scripture verses, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others" Philippians 2:3-4 (NASB95). |
